Welding in the Workshop A lot of student are really nervous about welding in the workshop and I encourage you all to have a go and not be frightened by the process. Most students in Year 9 have had an experience of welding and are relived to find out its not as difficult as it looks! What is Welding ??? Welding is a fabrication or sculptural process that joins materials, usually metals or thermoplastics , by causing fusion , which is distinct from lower temperature metal-joining techniques such as brazing and soldering , which do not melt the base metal.
